OVERVIEW

Project scope: 1 week

Project type: School project

Role: Designer

Tasks: Planning, Sketching, Prototyping

Tools: Paper, Pencil, Adobe XD

SkySmart is a flight booking app created during the UX Design for Mobile course at my UX studies. This app aims to help users book a flight through an intuituve and simple app, and check the status of their flight on their smart watch.

SkySmart is only a concept!

THE TASK

The tasks for this project were to create a mobile app and watchOS app to help my persona book and travel hassle free. The phone app should contain the booking, while the watch app should present our user with the most essential information about the flight.

GOAL

The goal of the SkySmart app is to provide the users a simple solution to book and keep track of their upcoming flight. The user should not need to use their phone to see status of the flight, or to scan boarding card.

Boarding card straight on your wrist!

DESIGN PROCESS

The tasks for this project were to design a persona, create a contextual scenario for the primary persona, create a user flow, ideate for mobole and watch app, prototype the idea, and document the process.

  1. Define - User Persona
  2. Ideate - Context Scenario, User Flow, Sketches.
  3. Build - Style Guide, Wireframe, Prototype

1. Define

USER PERSONA

A user persona was already created for this project, so all I had to do was create a visualization of this persona. User persona will help me make better design decisions that will satisfy the user's needs.

Amarita

Age: 35

Position: Sales rep

Industry: Tech

Location: Oslo

Amarita Heinz is a 36 year old sales representative at a tech company. She is normally in her office in Oslo, but sometimes she has to travel to meet customers.

She loves to travel to new places, and therefore, her job fits her perfectly. She is a person who appreciate simple and quick solutions, especially when working.

Amarita lives alone, so she often books flights the day before, or same day, as she leaves. She is spontanious and adventurous, and likes to live a fast paced life, and therefore, she is dependent on simple, intuitive, and fast solutions when it comes to software.

2. Ideate

CONTEXT SCENARIO

Based on the goals of the persona, I built context scencarios to understand why they use the product, what they are looking for, and how they go about using the product.

I waanted to understand the user goals, motivations, needs, and barriers to understand how we could meet their expectations.

USER FLOW

A user flow was then created to understand how a user would navigate through the structure of the booking. Here I primarily focused on how the user would go from starting to book a flight to they have successfully booked and paid for the flight

SKETCHES

Before moving to tools for prototyping I started by sketching few designs and see what ideas I can come up with and converted these into digital sketches.

STYLE GUIDE

To make sure the app would be consistent, and for future designers to understand the design, I created a Style Guide.

WIREFRAMES

With the Style Guide in place, and all the components designed, I implemented these into Hifi wireframes.
